Tina Shafer
Tina ShaferTina Shafer has been the director of The New York Songwriter’s Circle since 1991 running her shows bi-monthly out of The Bitter End in the NYC.
A talented writer and artist herself (credits include, Celine Dion, Better Midler’s First Wives Club” centerpiece “Love is On the Way”, Phoebe Snow, Donna Summer and Sheena Easton) and numerous songs for daytime TV and movies...

Tina felt what was missing the most in the music business was the feel of a community for the songwriter. A place where writers could share their music and stories, be inspired and connect with each other as they sharpen their craft.  Above all, a place that felt comfortable and safe.

Some of the amazing talent to have come out of the Songwriter’s Circle include: Norah Jones, Grammy award winning writer Jesse Harris, Gavin DeGraw, Richard Julian Vanessa Carlton, Songwriter’s Circle 2006 contest winner, Kate Voegele and many more.
Most recently, The Songwriter’s Circle has formed a company that has produced two successful songwriting contests with some of the music industry's most outstanding judges from many areas of the entertainment field including radio, TV and magazines.

In 2007 the grand prize winners were Chicago's “Company of Thieves” (which Tina heard about through her Chicago intern, Halle Snavely). With our new company we will be signing and promoting great new talent via new ways of exposure in this ever changing climate of the music business.  The Circle's first CD release is due out early this summer featuring some of the Circle’s most outstanding artists.

Tina is also a top vocal coach with extensive training in her field and has worked with many of today’s top artists.

“I love to develop talent and the voice is a way of expressing that talent, our true voices express our true selves. The same can be said for a great song. It is a bit of pure truth that can really transform someone”.
